With experience as a creative director, casting director, and house flipper, Hampton Barringer Luzak is also an avid winter sports participant in Wyoming, mainly focusing on hiking, snowshoeing, and Alpine and Nordic skiing. Hampton Barringer Luzak is also passionate about American history and is a member of the Colonial Dames of America (CDA).

Initiated in 1890 by Maria Denning Van Rensselaer, the CDA, regarded as the oldest colonial lineage society for women in the United States, aims to commemorate the history of the 13 American colonies and their founders. Membership is by invitation only, and the eligible nominees must trace their ancestry to someone who held a public office at the colonial level, was a member of the armed forces, or served in another capacity set out in the eligibility list of the society.

CDA promotes and supports the preservation of historical sites and objects, educates the public on American history, inspires patriotism and fellowship among members, and awards scholarships. Scholarships and grants are offered to students in institutions offering American history-oriented courses such as archaeological studies and historic preservation.
